Colostrum collection

I’m 39 weeks tomorrow and this morning was my first try at collecting some colostrum, I know 0.5ml really isn’t much but I’m absolutely buzzing with that from a first try! The question is do I try again tonight or wait until tomorrow? I am also booked in for a sweep tomorrow afternoon so wanted to make sure I expressed enough incase that puts me into labour and I struggle to breastfeed when she’s first born. TIA

At 39 weeks I would say collect colostrum as much as you can especially if you are having a sweep tomorrow ❤️ Collecting .5ml on your first try I’d amazing. Well done

@Natalie I hope you collect lots and lots before little one arrives ❤️ I had a shock as I was booked in to get induced at 37 weeks due to little man not growing so I started collecting early and then my waters went naturally so I only ended up with 12ml total but I hope you get a decent amount and defo collect after you’ve given birth as well. Make the most of it before your milk comes in

Well done!! I managed to get 1ml today too (first time) it’s so exciting isn’t it?! I’m just gonna do once a day until baby comes I think, read on the internet doing it 2-3 times a day, that seems like a lot!!

Well done!! Can I ask how long did it take for you to collect this amount? I’ve been trying so hard to get a collection but I literally get tiny little balls appear and then it dries up, so disheartening I thought I would have a good stash collected at this point. Well done to you! X

My boobs don’t want to give me any colostrum I’ve tried and tried NOTHING so I’m like welp.

I used my pump to collect mine and syringed it out :)

@zara thankyou, it took me about an hour, I switched from nipple to nipple each time so that they didn’t feel too sensitive, I’ve just spent an hour this evening doing the same and I’ve ended up with 0.9ml in a new syringe xxx

@Wayne mine didn’t at first so I didn’t bother trying to collect but I’ve found having a hot shower and massaging my breasts whilst under the water has encouraged some to produce x
