Not talking

My 19 m/o is not forming words yet. We get the occasional mama and dada and ‘nana’ for banana, and a word which he uses for the dog but thats it. Nothing consistent He babbles a lot and really gets in your face when trying to tell you something, so I think the want is there Should I be worried?

My boy is the very same- mum, dad, nan (but drops words often so really knows only 1 at a time if that makes sense). However, he is under paediatricians and they've stated they are concerned about this for a while now - he is meant to be receiving some kind of home learning help but still have not heard yet and also been referred for autism. If you are genuinely concerned as parent, maybe reach out to your gp (I've heard HV don't do much as they put it to late development or being lazy etc)

@Nicole is your son hitting other developmental milestones or is it just speech? X

He's been delayed in everything (but also has global developmental delay and chiari malformation) from sitting, crawling and still not walking yet but he can't even hold/use a baby spoon etc where as others his age can do it all x

Ah my boy is reaching every other milestone but it’s just his speech that is lacking! It’s almost like it’s on the tip of his tongue but it just can’t get out

If he's reaching othe milestones absolutely fine his speech shouldn't be too far off, does he interact with other toddlers similar age at nursery or play group? If not that may help

Exact same position, my LO is 18 n half months n no proper speech.. Hows your little one with understanding.. I see my LO okish not great when it comes to understanding for example if i say go n pick that up from the other room n givs to me, some time he gets something different n some time wont listen. He used to say occasionally dada, papa but haven't heard recently. I'm thinking of contacting GP in couple of weeks if no further development

He goes to nursery 2 days a week and also playdates with other babies his age and interacts with them but just in baby talk really. His nursery haven’t raised any concerns. He also follows commands quite well and has good comprehension, just no words 🤷🏻‍♀️
