There’s recommended testing after baby has been born for 24 hours so I don’t think it’s very typical.
I pushed for a next day discharge and almost wound up back in the hospital a few days later because my blood pressure was still going up. If I hadn't been proactive about monitoring and keeping track of things, it could have spiraled into post partum pre eclampsia
I was told the min was 24 hours. You could leave AMA (against medical advice) of course, no one can hold you. But I wouldn’t suggest that.
Ok I’m in the UK but yes….Twice now! First was an induction so I’d technically been in overnight but she was born at 9:27am after a 12 hour labour and we were discharged at 4pm. Second was a spontaneous delivery, went in at 5am, born at 8:28 and discharged around 2:30! Had an epidural, small haemorrhage, episiotomy and stitches with my first too so yes it’s 100% possible and I’d 100% encourage same day discharge as you are able to get straight into your new life with your baba and little family and you’re so much more comfortable with having your home comforts around you!
You can go AMA but I wouldn’t recommend it at all
I was told I could leave the same day if I wanted (would have to bring the baby back at 24 hours for the testing), but I opted to spend the night just in case.
It’s possible if there were no complications. I was checked in around 3am during labor and was discharged around 6pm the same day
you can do whatever you want but they might not like it or make it easy
You can go AMA. However, now I'm not sure if this is entirely accurate just what I was told when I had my first baby, but you can go home but your baby has to stay for observation at least 24 hours. They won't let you leave with baby right after labor. That's what I was told, baby has to stay at least 24 hours after being born so they can monitor and make sure everything is alright.
Whilst not in Texas, in the UK it is possible to leave after 6 hours if everything has been straightforward. There is no push to get you out of the door though!
I'm in the UK, but yes. I left after 6 hours with my youngest as that was the minimum they said they wanted to keep us for monitoring.
I don't think they can technically keep you against your will so if you really pushed the issue, you could leave, but I don't think it's recommended to leave before 24 hours. Baby should be monitored and so should you.
