Clogged Milk Ducts

Hey Moms… I’m a new mom to a 2 Month Old baby girl and I have recently been struggling with clogged milk ducts. I’ve tried warm water and massage to help and I’ve tried pumping more frequently but my breasts hurt and I am not sure what other remedies to try. Can any mom help me out please?

If you have a haaka - warm water and Epson salt in the haaka, put it on upside down with a little suction, and let it soak. It should pull milk out too. Doing this a few times a day for a couple days helped clear the clog duct when I was newly post partum! Good luck - clogged ducts are the worst 😩

I’m having clogged milk ducts too. I tried all the things you just said and my breast still hurt.

Also note to be careful of over massaging. I definitely did that a few times and then it'd feel like I had a bruise. And that'd just take a few days to resolve on its own 😭

I pretty much have them constantly. Once it goes away on one side of my breast, it starts on the other side. My OB said to take warm baths and hand express it daily. She said it’s a first time mom thing, our bodies are just not used to it yet. I’ve also been taking sunflower lecithin daily plus when it’s really bad I ice it and take ibuprofen

My lactation consultant swears by the BAIT protocol - do not over massage, over pump or over feed - take 800mg Ibuprofen every 8 hours for 48 hours - ice for 10 mins at a time every 30 mins (really helps to bring down inflammation) - take 1000mg acetaminophen every 8 hours for 48 hours Also take sunflower lethicin! Works wonders. Breastfeeding baby can help move things along.

My sister has had mastitis three times already, I told her to use her husband to help her unclog the duct 🤣 and it works every time
