Speech delay?

My 22-month-old is very active and curious, but she still doesn't communicate with words. She babbles a lot and sometimes tries to communicate through babbling, but her verbal communication is very limited. Should I be worried? Is anyone experiencing the same?

Mine is the same way he can say a few words but that's it. He tries to talk . He does understand everything that we tell him. His pediatrician said that at 2 years if he still the same only saying if you words we can start therapy for him.

My daughter is also 22 months old and she also says some words but she doesn't speak fully. Maybe if the child watches a lot of cartoons, it's worth limiting their viewing, or putting educational videos on the child. I started showing educational videos to the child and she started repeating a lot of words

My daughter is the same way. Babbles and can even repeat a lot of words after us, but she doesn’t actively use many words to communicate with us. We actually had her evaluated and they did determine she has a speech delay and qualifies for early intervention speech services. I’m not sure if it varies state to state, but the evaluation process was at no cost to us. (we live in alaska) There’s no harm in getting a professional opinion if you can. i’m really thankful we had her evaluated so we can start getting her the help she needs asap.

My son is 22 months and at 12 months old he could say at least 10 words. The closer he got to 15 months, the less he could say. By the time he was 18 months, he wasn’t even saying mama and dad anymore. He doesn’t respond if I ask him to say a word. He just babbled. His pediatrician sent a referral to get him evaluated for any developmental delays. For the most part he’s on track or ahead in terms of milestones, but he’s severely behind in speech and cognitively. He’s got an occupational therapist that comes once a week to work with him on different activities to work on his speech, and now he’s starting to say words and sentences again. Still not responding to me asking him to say words but we’re getting there. We’re waiting on a speech evaluation so we can get a speech therapist, and his OT also recommended us doing an autism evaluation because he has a lot of other quirks that line up with autism as well.
