You should definitely go see a lactation consultant. They can help see what’s wrong with the baby’s latch and show you how to fix it. Even the slightest thing can make a HUGE difference. Breastfeeding should be painless!!!
Definitely talk to a lactation consultant/doctor it shouldn’t hurt each time. I’m so sorry love you’re doing an amazing job. Have you heard of nipple shields? Those can help as you don’t have to attach baby directly to you
I would reach out to hv and any breastfeeding support groups in your area. Also try nipple cream and possibly nipple shields? I assume baby is gaining weight?
@Christie yes I’ve had meetings with breastfeeding specialists. They’ve either just latched the baby without explaining what they’re doing or one of them just shoved the baby at me over and over again without successfully latching and both me & baby were in floods of tears by the end x
I’m also experiencing this at the moment, I called our hv and she suggested that I should see some breastfeeding groups which I attended and it helped it a bit . Although the pain isn’t as much as before. I hope this helps.
@Amber I’ve tried nipple shields, they helped whilst using them but as soon as I stopped the blisters came straight back
@Amanda I’ve tried nipple shields and also the lansinoh cream which didn’t help because baby just licked it off before he even attempted to latch 😂 I’ve just been recommended a nipple balm so I’ve ordered that to try. Yeah he’s gaining weight, he’s definitely feeding well, just ruining my poor nips in the process 😅
@Sandra I’ll have a look for groups near me, thank you. I’m desperate to continue breastfeeding so hopefully I can get some help
What I do is to allow home and once it’s starts been painful I try to stop him and then use the breast pump. The pain is super unbearable.
@Francesca I had the same problem and the breastfeeding support lady came to my house and saw that it was a latch issue and once I got that fixed I've not had any broken nipples. Had to let the nipples heal first though before getting the baby back on them so had to use a breast pump to express milk in the meantime.
Does bub have a tongue tie?
@Chloe no he’s been checked multiple times and doesn’t have one x
Sending my best, well done you for EBF. I hope this resolved soon.💕
@rosie thank you 🥹 x

Hi, I had similar issues where I had a really sore nipple (on one side). There’s not much breastfeeding support around me but a friend suggested seeing an osteopath. Long story short my baby had some tension in the top of her back and was stronger on one side (due to long labour), meaning she was more comfortable latching on one side. The osteopath did some work on her and after one session she was feeding much better. Also, silver nipple cups helped my nipple to heal through wet healing. Hope you get it sorted soon, well done for persevering so long!
Silver nipple shield saved me 😭 oh God the first few weeks were horrible i was in so much pain, i used lansinoh cream and went to a breastfeeding group to see if she is latching right. Her latch was alright and nipple cream was not helping, so i just got those silver nipple shield from amazon and found a difference in 3-4 days and i am 8 weeks pp now still using them. I know they are a bit pricey but i wish i got them earlier. In the breastfeeding group i was told Breastfeeding shouldn’t be painful, but some women just have sensitive nipples especially if it’s your first time.
Have you spoken to a lactation specialist about this? Your health visitor? If it’s always been painful, they should have helped. I’m sorry this is happening to you, sounds like a horrible experience. X
