Am I being over the top

I have been given a next to me crib for free by a friend of a friend. When we got it, it wasn’t in the best condition and was quite grubby but my mum has managed to clean the fabrics and what she’s done so far has come out ok. I was having a read about safe sleep last night on the lullaby trust and read about the safety standards to look for when buying products. The next to me crib we have been given doesn’t meet the most recent safety standards from 2020 - it is now mandatory for next to me cribs to have a barrier between the crib and the bed to stop the baby rolling into the bed. I’m now worrying that it would be better to just get a newer next to me that meets the latest standards but I don’t know if I am being over the top ?? Trying to save a bit of money but really don’t want to compromise the safety of my baby. What would you do? The next to me we have is a snuz pod 3 and it looks like the newer snuz pod 4 is the model that meets the latest safety standards and has a barrier between the crib and bed.

I was gifted a Snuzpod 3 also, didn't realise there was an element that didn't meet safety standards..I'll have to look more into it and make a final decision. If it is just the side down element I may just ensure I zip it back up each time that way removes the risk.

If it’s a zip down side why don’t you zip it 3/4 of the way down and tuck it in to stop the chance of rolling out? 🙂 as long as it’s clean and you have a new mattress I would say it’s probably fine (when you say grubby if there was any mould from being stored it needs to go. Cleaning it off isn’t enough!)

I have purchased my next to me crib from silver cross , mine has a bar that you can unclip and then you pull two zips down to let the side down, as long as you have it secured so it won’t come down it should be fine x

I've got a snuzpod 3 too. The side looks secure enough to meet the safety standards on mine as long as it is kept up while we sleep.
