How do you encourage waking baby to self settle

My baby is waking every 2hrs and will only get back to sleep if I pick him up. I've tried settling him by not picking him up and putting my hand on him but he just screams and screams. How did you do it and how long did it take you? Thank you

I’m the same but the only way for me to get him back to sleep is by breast feeding but only for comfort, not for hunger. he wakes every 3ish hours. I need help too 😂

Same boat here. If I don’t pick up baby will cry or scream. Patting him does nothing. I have to rock back to sleep or bf for comfort.

Same, I'm with you both. At least we're not alone.... waiting for some advice from other ladies.... help!

Have you tried a dummy? My baby has had one since 3 months. (He’s 7 months now). Whenever he shuffles or stirs in the night, usually popping a dummy in will help him settle himself back to sleep without picking him up (unless he’s genuinely hungry) 😊

We do timed check ins. So will give her 5 mins then go in a stroke her tummy and shush then leave and do this until she does back to sleep. She still wakes but has gone from every 1-2 hours to 3 hours

Took us 3 days, and had to use the same settling method for bedtime, night wakes and naps. I think you have to be consistent for them to understand they're not going to be picked up again. Used time check ins and worked wonders, a lot of crying day 1 but then from then much easier
