We got rid of the dummy in January and honestly it sounds means but we just threw them away so there was no turning back. I'd say the first 3 days were hard but judt keep pushing through and i promise it gets better. After that he just forgot and now he's fine
I need some tricks too!! I have heard it takes 3 days to break a habit so would have to push through! Good luck!
Hi so my daughter turned 2 last Saturday and I had always wanted to wean her off it by the time she turns 2. She would only have a dummy during nap and bedtimes and today is day 3 with no dummy. All I say to her when she mentions dummy during nap time is “dummy all gone” and she will repeat “all gone” and settles 😂 maybe I got lucky but i think it will be easier to just say it rather than cutting a hole etc because they understand more at the age of 2 xx
I was surprised how my son easily stopped using the dummy, he only used to use it for naps and sleep at home and not for naps at nursery. He attends full time so not sure if this played a part. The night before he turned 23 months. I started talking to him about the dummy. I got as far as tomorrow we will no longer be using the dummy at night. He pulled it out his mouth and gave it to me. He has never asked for it to this day.
We managed to get rid of ours when our LO got hand foot and mouth. His mouth was sore so didn’t want his dummy and we just never gave it back to him! A very weird silver lining of HFM!
My sister cut a hole into her LO’s dummies and just told her they were broken now. She accepted it with more ease than expected!
@Sophia my little boy bites his for fun, I need shares in mam dummies with how many we go through! We are day 4 of only having it for naps and bedtime and just constantly trying to entertain him. I’ve taken it from his bed this evening and then tomorrow I’m going to go full force no dummy 🥲 rip to my sleep…I just hope he doesn’t steal his little sisters or she’s going to have to go cold turkey too hahaha
Commenting as my LG turns two next Monday and I’ve been wanting to get rid of the dummy for a couple of weeks where she has only been allowed it during naps/ bedtime or if she is being really restless. But I want to start this week before taking it off her completely I’m going to tell her on her birthday the birthday fairy has took it away😂fingers crossed it works x
We cut it so he gave it up himself because it was yucky! was so easy x Only thing is now he won’t sleep through the night and is up multiple times 🫠
Commenting because I need all the tricks right now!
