My 8 month old has always been a early riser 5:30 every morning no matter what bed time or how much sleep he has during the day he’s dropped a nap now made no different at all, no advice but I’m with you on the early rising an extra hour would be lovely
We’re 9 months now and have been in the 5am club for a couple of months. 🙈 We have tried changing naps, pushing bed time back (didn’t make a difference so he still goes down between 6-7). Nothing has worked so kind of accepted it hoping it’s not forever 😂😂
Sounds like we’re all trying everything 😂
Keep him in the dark until at least 6am and don’t nap him too early. I wouldn’t nap until at least 8:45am with 9am being a goal if you keep him in the dark until 6am. Seems like schedule needs another tweak or he doesn’t have solid sleep skills to help him at that time of the morning. You may even have to reduce to 2 naps as a typical wake window for a 7 month old is approaching 3 hours. 7am up 10-12 nap 3-4 nap 7/7:30 bed
@Nicola he’s a nightmare with his naps there’s no way he’ll do 2 hour naps He’s a serial cat Napper Only way I can get home to sleep longer is on me and sometimes he still won’t do 2 hours I’ve been pushing him to 2.5/3 hour wake windows but if I only let him nap twice he’d be miserable
I’ve tried everything to shift my LOs (3 & 2) wake ups. Shorter naps, no naps, later bed time etc. and for the life of me they still wake up between 4-4:30. Lord please if you find any answers send them my way too. I’d love to be able to sleep in
@Sophie might be something to work on :) cat naps are usually due to environment , lack of sleep skills (ie can he put himself to sleep), lack of consistency, or wake windows aren’t right meaning he’s either under tired or over tired. He can be better at naps if you help him :) I’m not saying it has to be 2 hours but typically around 3 hours a day total is achievable at 7 months. Naps affect mornings, so it could be the key for you. If he has short naps and he’s up at 5am but in bed at 8pm to me that signals overtiredness.
@Sharnee oh how that’s well tough!!
10 months old , having this routine for the past 3 months, even 4am 😵💫, I’ve tried it all too.. I’m just gonna wait and hope that it is going to change soon during the summer
For me what it worked was as mentioned by some on this thread, keeping them with no light and low stimulus. So no playing, singing, getting them out of the room, switching on lights, etc. It is tough I know, but a sleep couch told me to do so and it eventually worked.
Just commenting for solidarity and the hope someone else has good advice! My baby is 6.5 months and is waking at 5am as well😴 if she's feeling kind, she might let me sleep till 5.30am😂
