Naps

How are your 1 month olds napping?? We do a lot of contact naps, carrier naps, or in the swing or snuggle me (all supervised) but I know we need to do more bassinet/crib naps. This is my 2nd but I feel like I forgot everything when it comes to sleep 😵‍💫😵‍💫

This is my second also and we are doing a lot of contact naps too! I stressed so much about my first getting naps in her crib but this time I’m just soaking up the baby snuggles :) I figure we will work on crib napping once she gets on more of a schedule

Every nap at least starts as a contact nap for us, occasionally we’ll be able to successfully transfer him to his Moses basket but mostly he sleeps on us or in his carrier. At night he seems more than happy to sleep in his Moses basket but again he’s being put in there already asleep and in his lovetodream swaddle

Both of my babies took most of their naps for the first month or so in the bassinet in the dockatot 😊 After a month or so I removed the dockatot and they continued napping in the bassinet like normal! If we have to go somewhere then of course a car nap or contact/carrier nap is great too! I do love a good contact nap 🥰 (a little harder to get those in when you have a toddler too! Haha) but that’s why I prioritized good bassinet sleep early on so that I’d still be able to have one on one play time with my toddler too if I want 😊

ugh, I totally get that! my little one is all about the contact naps too, and honestly, I just go with the flow for now... they'll get there eventually, right? 😅 here's what the 'Heal App' says.... "It's completely normal to feel a bit overwhelmed with sleep routines, especially with a newborn! For a 1-month-old, contact naps and naps in a swing or carrier are quite common and can be comforting for both you and your baby. To encourage more bassinet or crib naps, try placing your baby in the bassinet when they're drowsy but still awake, which can help them learn to fall asleep independently. You might also consider creating a calming pre-nap routine, like dimming the lights or playing soft music, to signal that it's time to sleep. Remember, consistency is key, and it may take some time for your baby to adjust. How does your baby usually respond when you try to put them down in the bassinet?
