Weaning off the dummy

Just wanted to know how everyone's little ones got on when being weaned off the dummy. We was going to wait till after our little boy had finished teething but after being told by the dentist it could take another six months before they all come through, though he's only got four left. Now going to wait till he's two. Going cold turkey seems a bit mean, going to try just for nap and bed time for the first week and then bed time. When he's at nursery or his grandad looks after him he only has it at nap time at home he has it a bit too much. Getting him off the bottle was easy he took to his beaker straight away. The dummy will be a different thing altogether

My little girl only had it for naps and bedtime but would wake up to look for it. We took it away around a month ago and went cold turkey. Surprisingly had no tears. She woke early for the first few days but sleeps so much better now without it cos she doesn't look around for it. She now has her bear in bed who she cuddles instead. We did it try a few times before and she was upset but maybe this time she was more ready for it? Xxx

We’re doing cold turkey from tomorrow 😬 But she’s only had it for nap and bedtime for the last year, that was pretty easy tbh. She puts her dummy next to her crib before we go downstairs. We were going to wait until she’s 2 but her last one has got a tear and I don’t want to buy more, so tonight is the last night with it. She’s going to have four days with me doing her nap cause of Easter, so it’s probably good timing tbh. I’ve been talking to her about it and she acts like she understands but who knows, we shall see! Pray for me 😂😂

We just had it for bedtime and the dentist showed it was effecting his teeth. So we cut them cold turkey. Showed him where we keep them and that they were now gone. He was sad for the first two nights and looking for them but then completely fine. I was pleasantly surprised how easy it went, hopefully it is the same for you! Good luck x

We did cold turkey and it worked great for us, before he was ALL DAY with his dummy on. We told him that the ladybird came to take his dummy and somehow he accepted it 😂

We just went cold turkey as he was obsessed. We tried a few days before just for naps but knew he would just keep it so then wasn’t really working. He didn’t ask for it for on day 2 and distracted him. We also found it really helpful for him to have a toy or blanket to offer him if he did ask for it so had something which offered some comfort xx
