Mine told me to start eating dairy around 6 months to see if she’s grown out of it. So I have and only saw it once and a bit of mucus but then it went away again even tho I’m still having dairy
I personally would challenge especially because symptoms were quite mild. Unfortunately most doctors aren’t very clued up on cmpa. The 1 time I saw my gp about it he spent 20 mins on google reading up on it 🤦🏼♀️ our health visitor has dealt with it all since then, she just told the gp what to prescribe etc 😅
I went to the GP knowing it was CMPA. But I still acted none the wiser as I didn’t want them to diagnose her just based on my opinion. I showed photos and videos of her stools and we arrived to the same conclusion. At first it was just what I thought was baby acne with very runny/ watery poop, with mucus eventually with blood as well, her ezcema which wasn’t bad at all from her arms and legs completely disappeared when they prescribed her milk, apart from one patch on her arm that’s never gone as of yet, no spots since then either x
Mine had the same blood in stool at 4 months- no other symptoms it was shocking and I was EBF. I was drinking a lot of whey protein at the time. I cut out dairy- including butter and I quarantined my small pumped breastmilk stash. We ended up seeing GI at Yale because we are in CT and I was nervous. They said at 10 months for me to eat dairy and see how she reacted. I started with butter then went to cheese and yogurt- she had no symptoms. Then I gave her some of the freezer milk. Then I weaned her at 1 year and gave her yogurt directly. She is now 15 months and is tolerating yogurt and cheese! No blood in her stool and no other GI issues. The doctor said they do likely grow out of it and she was right. Don’t give up! You can have a happy ending and if you want to message me any questions you can. ❤️
We didn't challenge as he was so severely ill before we went dairy free then so much drastically better when we went dairy free, it was blatantly obvious it was cmpa so no need to challenge to confirm and with his allergy being so severe if we had challenged it would have made him very ill again.
@Rebecca if you don’t mind me asking, how severe ill was your child? Just asking because I don’t know how awful this allergy can get
@Camila of course not, he was hospitalised. His allergy is severe and he was constantly exposed to it for 6 months so ended up with severe symptoms and very unwell in hospital.
@Rebecca im so sorry, I hope he is better now xx
@Camila thank you, he's 20 months and doing great now! Still dairy and egg free and haven't been able to attempt the ladders yet but he's thriving despite everything and has a great medical team now xx
@Rebecca 💪🏻💪🏻🤗🤗
I was confused too, so i challenged it and my baby was fine. It wont hurt to try
