@Jazz ugh thank god this is a real thing and I’m not just a pos 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
@Nahui definitely not a pos - just try to keep your cool Some days are better for me 😭 but between my kids being sick/ extremely clingy - I’m like so overstimulated and touched out ( so the speech problem just makes me want to scream some days)
I used to get extremely overstimulated with my kids if they did literally anything noisy, couldn’t speak fast enough/properly, etc. But I had to realize after literally saying to my 2 year old “what are you two?!” That duh he is 2 and he’s doing normal 2 year old things. Last night my son wanted to watch “triple G” turns out it was Incredibles lol I asked him to tell me what it had in it and he kept saying it was red and guy and eventually we figured it out. If you absolutely can’t figure it out you can smile and nod or just tell her that you can’t understand her and maybe she can tell you in a little bit. Sometimes taking a deep breath or literally walking out of the room for a second is helpful to walk off some of that frustration. I totally get it!
I just tell my son I don't know what you're saying can you show me? I don't get upset with my son it's not his fault but I do get overstimulated with my kids so I understand the feeling.
Hey @Nahui 🤩 Maybe this might help. It works for neurotypical and neurodiverse kiddoes alike. My son is autistic and sometimes I can’t understand what he’s trying to say until a speech therapist explains. What’s helped us is a visual board with basic needs (eat, drink, bathroom, hurt, tired). I guide his hand to point—it took time but really helped! Even for neurotypical kids, visuals can be great. You got this! Don’t feel bad, we can’t play detective 🕵️ all the time but focusing on the essentials will make things easier in the long run 💖
@Vivian Omgosh that is an amazing idea thank you
@Nahui all good girlie 🥰
Yep - it’s extremely over stimulating - I just have to remember it’s not their fault they have a speech delay 😭😭 but the struggle is so real
