Learning new words then never saying them again.

Everyone thinks it’s a quirk but I’m starting to grow concerned. My daughter has said multiple words since she was very young BUT she says them repeatedly for a day or two then never says its again. She has NEVER babbled only screeched. (Although she’s now she’s trying to babble more) She’s now 13 months and says ‘muma’, ‘me’ and occasionally will say ‘da’ for dad But she has said; Hop hop (this is the one she’s said the most but she looks at me like I’m crazy when I ask her to say it) Bubbles Bot bot Dada Mama Bye Hi Is this normal speech development for some babies? Is there anyone else going through similar?

Normal my daughter does the same

Very normal, don’t worry about it, nor the lack of babbling, she is demonstrating good language capabilities despite being selective of what she will say when.

I was telling my husband just today that I am getting concerned over exact same reason as you. My daughter had more words at 11-12 months than she does now at nearly 14 months. She would even try to sing some simple nursery rhymes with me, but now every time I sing the same rhyme she just looks at me as if hearing for the first time. I read an article about speech regression, and apparently it’s quite common in toddlers especially if there has been some change in their lifestyle. My daughter started nursery at almost 13 months and I feel like ever since she’s lost some of her vocab. Hoping it’s just a phase 🤞 But I totally get where your concern is coming from.
