My lo is actually in a toddler bed now, never slept well in a cot so I don't no if that's an option for you But I'm sure somewhere you've be able to find some barriers that are breathable and safe for him x

We’ve used mesh bumpers since we put her in her big cot. They say not to but we had the same issue x
We use the purflo mesh bumper and she’s still in a sleeping bag both for at night and during her naps
