So surprisingly, I went through this phase when I was a child I used to hum all the time and even when I was eating, I was told I did this for a long time 😩 lol I could only imagine I was getting on my family’s nerves. But what I’ve learned that it’s a self-soothing thing or even just out of habit do it. Maybe try to redirect him to something else, try to give him something or talk to him. My son is 10 months and I’m just going to assume he’ll eventually be at that phase too so my best bet would be to redirect them. try singing or making beats anything else to get him off of humming, I hope this helps .💜
@Imani thanks so much will do I think distraction is best too x
that's super cute! my kiddo did the same thing around that age, it’s like their way of exploring sounds and stuff, so just let him hum away and maybe join in for fun! I actually checked the 'Heal App' for this and here’s what it says: "It's quite common for toddlers to hum or make sounds as a way to express themselves, especially when they're feeling bored or exploring their environment. This behavior can be a form of self-soothing or a way to engage with their surroundings. To support him, you can encourage his humming by joining in or providing musical toys that allow him to explore sounds further. Additionally, try to engage him in activities that capture his interest, which might reduce the humming when he's bored. Have you noticed if there are specific times or situations when he hums more often?"
My nephew does this and I’ve always wondered about it. Would be interested in people’s views. He does it when he’s concentrating on something
