Son not talking and not pointing

For pointing, we might be partially to blame because we didn't really model it. He doesn't always follow pointing, but he does it I'd say at least half the time. He can also get commands through pointing like "give me that". Which leads me to his strong suit, he really has good understanding of words we say to him, he gives things at our request but also to initiate playing, he pats us or (less frequently) yells to get our attention, he babbles. He rarely imitates sounds but it became a bit more common as of late. Is anyone in a similar position with their toddler?

We are in exactly the same boat, he understands a lot and babbles so much but for some reason just will not talk yet. His nursery have out together a little pack with word cards etc to try and help him improve before he sees a speach theropist.xx

My little boy has said 3/4 words but hasn’t repeated them. He babbles and shouts a lot but no one has brought up any concern about this even tho he’s does attend childcare twice a week xx
