Induction

I'm due to be induced again beginning of May, my first was fine and pessary was used, but this time they're saying the balloon. What have peoples experiences of this at pinders been like? 😬

I had a balloon, it was a bit uncomfortable going in but started contractions almost straight away, i went home, and honestly barely slept, i was on my ball most of the night, it went in at 2am (Tuesday) , and i was due to go back at 2pm to have it out, ended up back at 11am as it fell out about half 10 in the morning. They gave me an exam and i was 3cm mid. Sent me home for another 24 hours where i spent the day walking around and trying to keep busy (still contracting) I went back in at 9am the next morning (wednesday) cause i was starting to struggle. I was 3cm fully effaced, so they admitted me to labour ward at around 10/11am, I had my baby at 7.20pm that evening. All in all could’ve been a worse experience

I had the balloon at Pinders this time last year. Fitting is uncomfortable and it deffo starts contractions. At the time I thought they were painful but given the contractions I had in full blown labour after my waters went, they’re not. The good thing is you can go home once it’s fitted and have to go back 12 hours later for checks (if your waters don’t go / you don’t progress majorly in between) x

I had the balloon at pinders. I had to stay in as i was high risk but I was really sensitive to it. Tbh when they put it in it didnt bother me much, no worse than a stretch and sweep but after a few hours i was in agony with contractions, they felt like proper labour for me (this was my 2nd child), anyway when they took it out i was 6cm dilated and in active labour but by the time i got a bed on labour ward which was only about an hour later as i was in active labour i was only 3cm! Ended up having an emergency c section but that was due to babys heart rate and other things so fingers crossed won't be a worry for you. Good luck, the midwives were so good with me x

I had the balloon at pinders last August, it’s just uncomfortable to fit but once in, it just feels weird!
