There is an app called “non verbal”, my son was given a talking device to learn his words and to communicate his emotions and anything he needed in the meantime, this helped tremendously because they feel mid understood or not heard at all. Imagine how it must feel to not be able to get out what it is you so badly want and need to tell people… it’s frustrating and will lead to lashing out but for them , they are simply crying for help, which I know you get 100% Download the app and learn it with your son and teach him how to use it to communicate.

Agents of Speech is free too.habe an app and You Tube videos

Mary Barbera has You Tibe Videos on Turning Autism Around

Baby Sign Language videos help also Baby Einstein and tons of others just to request common items we used to sign with my son and say the word. He used to lead us to items or grab it himself. He still has big emotions and is hitting so we finally got into ABA Therapy, we have been doing speech and OT. Social Emotional books might help too

Hang in there keep trying you will find a way to communicate

TouchChat app is awesome as well

This may not be the case for everyone but when my son is in meltdown mode (he’s also autistic) I can’t comfort him because it makes him worse. I put him in his quiet corner, give him his comforts (dummy and blanket) I literally have to leave him there for a few minutes and he calms down. He’ll then start running around again happily
