Sucking hands

Hi all, my 2 month old has started sucking on his hands a lot. He has a dummy but seems to prefer his hands at the moment and is fed frequently and until he's full. Does anyone else's baby do this? 😅

I feel like it’s better they suck on their hands than a dummy! my little one did this when she was a month old, doesn’t do it as much now!

Mine does this! I think it’s a developmental/sensory thing for them as they use their mouths to discover! X

My baby girl also 2 months old is doing the same 👌🏼

My one has started this and it just means that they’re hitting their milestones! (Bringing hand to mouth) 💐

Yes it’s developmental to find their hands and sucking them (someone’s more than others) but generally it starts the phase of everything in the mouth! Hands and then any toys etc. It is no longer a reliable hunger cue, that exists just for newborn days.

Exploring their hands x

Literally going through the same thing🥲 waking up with his sleeves dripping wet because he is also dribbling loads🙄 apparently it’s really normal at this point!x

My LO doesn’t have a dummy but she’s been sucking on her hands a lot this last week. She’ll be 9wks on Monday

Yep and he’s found his thumb now (10 weeks) and sucks it occasionally

My baby is 2 months today and she’s started, she has a dummy too but is it just me or does her hands stinkkkk

@Lauren this is really interesting as I have been seeing it as hunger and offering more but my son wouldn’t take it! In terms of cues, is lip smacking still reliable past the newborn stage? X
