1 hour 45 mins every time?

No no sorry 1 hr 45 over a whole 24 hr period

Anywhere between 6-20 minutes per feed

Mine’s even less. Doctor said if they have min 5 wet nappies it should be ok. When they latch they suck whatever is required for their body.

We are similar, about 12-15 feeds but quite short short and averaging 1hr45-2hrs over 24hrs. I flagged it to my health visitor and she said it wasn't an issue although tbh I'd prefer fewer longer feeds!

Ah okay thank you that’s reassuring. I have an app that tracks how long each feed is, and normally each feed is around 6 mins sometimes longer up to about 20 mins, but only adds up to around 1 hr 45 mins ish sometimes less in a 24 hr period. Was just worried it doesn’t sound like a lot, but he has plenty of wet nappies and is putting on weight, so most likely worrying over nothing, I guess each baby’s different!

Every baby is different and breastfeeding norms are varied but in general they get so efficient! This is one of the upsides of BF especially when you are through the really tough newborn weeks. There will still be tough days and challenges but less so and feeds can take 5-10mins and done. My girl was the worst feeder to start and then got so much better. Thought I’d only last up to 6 months but from 3 months it was already better and then from 6+ months it was the easiest quickest thing to do. My boy is benefiting from a stronger supply being second time and is feeding much quicker. Usually night feeds are a little slower as a sleepier. Also it’s hard to compare feed times as some babies will do both feeding and comfort sucking and want to use as a dummy and so could seem like a longer ‘feed’. So the best way to measure if a combination of regular feeds even if short, good nappy output and weight gain. I also would recommend not tracking. Trust your body and baby. You are doing great!

LO feeds every 1:30-3 hours ! Sometimes he can even feed up to 18-20 times per day… but the time he feeds is very short (between 5-10min) and the average of time in 24 hours it is 2:30 hrs

I didnt properly time or count with either of mine so I dont have it documented anywhere but with my first i do remember him feeding every 1-2 hours for anything between 10 mins and 45 mins My 2nd baby is totally different and 'snacks' (as I call it) for about 5-10 mins with gaps of 3-4 hours and then has a feast around 8/9pm for like 45 mins ha Both babies were/are chunky bums (my 1st definitely more so unsuprisingly, but 2nds not far off) with wees and poos around the clock so deffo getting what they need ha, just shows they're all different, your boobs sync up to what the baby wants and needs so don't worry sounds totally normal 😊
