How to pump whilst exclusively breast feeding?

Hi everyone! My LO is 6 weeks old and exclusively breast fed. I want to pump to increase my supply but not really sure how to go about it as I’m always scared I am going to pump milk he ends up wanting as his feeding pattern is quite varied!

i usually pump on the boob she’s not feeding on or right after feeding!

Pump for 5 minutes after you finish feeding

I will feed my LO on one side in the morning and pump on the other as it full.

I found pumping at the same time everyday worked for me. I pump both sides. I usually pump at night around an hour or two after she’s gone to bed

None of the normal advice worked for me such as pump on the boob the baby isn’t feeding on, because she would want both at most feeds. I also couldn’t create a routine or set time as she would feed at random times. I just started pumping after a feed for 12 mins regardless of if anything came out. I read that stimulating the breasts in that way signals to the brain to produce more milk as it thinks the baby isn’t full. Word to the wise however; I woke up after doing this with engorged boobs and she was full after half of one and I had to pump to relieve the pain.

I breastfeed and pump for the first 2 months and after that I just stopped pumping bc I hated pumping! I just decided to trust my body to take over and breastfed on demand and so far it’s working good! Koodos to those moms who exclusively pump bc that is not an easy thing to do.

Is the only reason you want to pump to increase your supply? Why do you think your supply isn't enough?

Pump right after you feed her. And just pump for like ten minutes. You should try power pumping for a week. That definitely increased my supply. I ended up breastfeeding for 1.5 yrs. I could have went longer but I was lowkey done.

I have significantly increased my supply by pumping once a day and using a haakaa suction on the side I’m not feeding on. I don’t know what’s normal to you but I’m now pumping 400-500mL a day. Technically your breasts never stop producing milk so your baby won’t lack.
