Stokke Tripp Trapp

Hi all, I’m really interested in the Stokke Tripp Trapp high chair, but wondering if it’s suitable for a 6 month old as I’ve read the harness is quite useless and the tray is also in terms of no plates or bowls will suction onto it nor high chair toys. Curious of the views on this please, thank you!

For a better price look at the kinderkraft one, it adjusts the same as the stokke but price is wayyyy more reasonable. I can't t comment on 6mo suitability as we started with the standard ikea and moved from that once LG was trying to escape it!

Weirdly enough we have had no issues with toys suctioning onto ours. Our plate stays put for the most part, although it is easy to push around. Not sure about the harness issues, but I just adjust it to fit baby and he’s absolutely fine. We’ve been using ours since 5.5 months and I have put him in without it sometimes. I would recommend based on my experience x

I have the hauck Alpha high chair, similar concept as Tripp trapp. You can either buy a wooden tray to go on which I have and have had no issues with plates suctioning on, you can also buy a plastic tray that clips on and clips off.

I bought it but haven’t used it yet as my boy is five months old. I’ve had amazing recommendations for it so I hope it’s worth the money 🫠

It’s one of the best purchases we made. Honestly it’s aesthetically pleasing and my son loves sitting in it.. The suction works just fine, and honestly just worth every penny for us personally !

@Shalomie that’s very reassuring ☺️

I’ve got 3! My eldest (4.5y) still sits in hers and twins (10m) are in them too. I bought the twins’ ones second hand and reckon I’ll be able to sell them on for what I paid. I’d recommend getting second hand as they hold their value really well. My only complaint is that suction stuff doesn’t stick very well to the tray, but it’s worth it anyway- you’ll only need the tray for a year anyway then LO can just use the table. They are SO well made, they’ll last forever. For context, my very overweight (150kg) FiL has broken 3 of my dining chairs and now when he comes he sits on my daughter’s stokke TT, as it’s the only chair that will take his weight!

I have one too I would recommend it. I’ve got a black one to match my home decor and you can get the catchy to fit on it too. Things don’t suction to it you’re right but I just put food on the tray for him to pick up and eat. Any bowls he would have his hands in and try to launch anyway 🤣 I would recommend it x

Would you ladies recommend the cushion insert for the 6+ plus month?

Oh also I have the harness but haven’t actually used it and no don’t get the cushion insert it just gets covered on food and my boy used to turn and chew it so it further got covered in food! I took it off

@Stef Oki, thank you 🙏🏻 we got the harness but not the cushion

We never used the harness. She sat perfectly well in it snd we still use it now (she’s 3). Very easy to clean too. You do t want an over complicated one that has lots of bits for food to get stuck in. And the only high chair great for suction toys is Ikea !
