Next pregnancy after c section

So I had an emergency c section 7 weeks ago and no one has actually said when is best to try for next baby as I’m sure it comes with complications due to the internal healing. Just wondering if there’s anyone who had c section then how long it was till next baby/pregnancy xx

It’s best to wait a year before having another one it takes 6 weeks for the outside of the scar to heal but could take 6 months to heal internally I’m pregnant due next month had a C-section with my second and I’ll say when I started getting bigger my scar was tender only bc it’s being stretched give your body time to heal and for your organs to go back into place before having another

Midwives reminded me at every postnatal visit to wait at least a year.

It depends on what type of delivery you hope for in the future, too. If you are hoping for a VBAC, it's best to wait 18-24 months. If you plan to schedule another c-section, 12 months.

I had a c section and the doctor told me it's best to wait 18 months before having another one.

I had an unplanned slightly emergent csection and was told by the obgyn who did the surgery to wait 18 months between deliveries, my midwife also said the same thing.

My doctor told me 18 months

18 months is recommended, that being said I am 32 weeks with my second and my first turns 1 in a few days so it's possible to have smaller gaps but to ensure the fewest possible risks of complications and a safer pregnancy a minimum of 18 months would be best.

I waited a year then started trying again but it took me 3 years to full again xx but I do have pcos so it is harder

At least 18 months was my docs recommendation. We waited 24

2 years

I was told wait 18 months xx

18 months between delivery and next pregnancy

1 1/2 - 2 years is the best period

My doctor said 2 years but I'm not sure why that's longer than some others here

18 months between pregnancies is what I was told was best

I would wait mama ! I didnt wait after my first emergency c section and ended up having two back to back miscarriages and then got pregnant a third time and even though baby was healthy and we are okay - that second pregnancy was really rough and we almost didnt make it. My uterus was still healing and was at severe risk of rupturing according to the ob who performed my second c section. Either way, i would wait if you can.

I was told if I wanted a VBAC 2 years, my husband wants us to start trying again which I told my doctor and he didn’t have any objections to that. But do want to wait a bit longer

I had a c section and then another c section 20 months later and everything was fine☺️

My OB recommends 18 months if you're looking at a vbac. Min 12 months for another C section

My doctor said to wait at least 12 months before trying again, but ideally 18 months. It's just to give the scar ample time to heal so you minimise the risk of the scar rupturing during the next pregnancy.

When I have my C section I got told to wait 18 months. X

Currently 36 weeks and opting for a VBAC my little one is 22months old. Doctors will advise you along the way. But after my first emergency c they all said at least a year.

Thank you for posting this btw! I also wanted to know. But I am still confused, is it 2 years then try and get pregnant or can u be pregnant and then give birth when it’s been 2 years. Ideally when should you try again? Sorry mamas for the confusion! x

I got my second c-section 17 months after my 1st c-section. The hospital said I could have tried for a vbac but I didn’t want to.

I got pregnant at 8.5m pp then 9.5m pp. I have a 3yr old, 18m old and due a baby in 3 weeks time xx I had a planned c section as my first was breech. With my second, my waters went at 36+6, got induced for vbac but it didn't progress past 2cm so had an emergancy c section. He was intubated for breathing support for 2 weeks. It was really traumatic. I'm praying my next experience is easier xx

@T✨ 2 years from your delivery. So waiting till your baby is around 14m before trying would be advisable but I didn't follow advice x

They say 1 year to 18 months I have my 2 at 2 yrs apart so my oldest boy was 15 months when I fell pregnant and I ad few issues and ad to have a second c section

My OB said to wait a year in order to let the scar heal

@Lauren thank you so much for the clarity! Now it makes sense xx

I was told not to get pregnant for 18 months at least. 24 months preferably

Had an emergency C-section and got willingly pregnant 9 mo later but you're supposed to wait 12-18 mo

@Tiffany have they said you’re able to have natural delivery or do you have to have another c section?

@Ellie they're encouraging me to have a vaginal birth (I have before and my body labours on its own well) but I might have placenta previa (won't know til week 30+)

@Tiffany i might have placenta previa aswell( won’t know til week 24+ , they said to me here in Germany) I am 21 weeks now and have 4 times bleeding so far, did you have the same? It is because of placenta low(previa)??

@Florina I haven't had any spotting or bleeding

Was told 18 months but I got pregnant 6/7 months PP. I’ve got a 15 month old and 38 weeks pregnant now. 1st was emergency c section, this one will be a planner c section. They are recutting my old scar.

I was advised 2 years but, have heard that they say at least 18 months minimum x

I've had 4 sections. The shortest gap between having one and getting pregnant again was 10 months x
