Baby won’t go down at night

My baby is 1 week old and the nights are killing me. She will wake and feed, but getting her back down takes hours. She sometimes settles for 10 mins and then wakes up wanting to be held again. She’s content and asleep in my arms but I can’t get any sleep. I’ve tried putting her down feet first, on her side and rolling to back. She has a Ewan sheep. Anything work for you?

Mine was the same but slowly getting better. I was told wait for deep sleep and then slowly put the baby down in crib feet, then bum and then head and hold the arms down for 30 seconds to prevent their startle reflex- it worked for me and now he sleeps in next to me for a couple of hours a time at night between feeds. I feel your pain xx

Love to Dream swaddle bags are a god send and have worked for both of our babies! That being said, our son is 3 weeks old and only just started using one as he slept in my arms for the first few weeks

We co slept for the first two weeks. Bought a baby nest pod and put in between us.

@Bec I’ve got the swaddle bag from the company that do Ewan but it seems very tight and she’s only tiny. I know they should be snug so maybe I need to persist with that more. A few hours sleep each time would be great. By the time she’s fed and gone back to sleep it’s not long before 3 hours is coming round from the start of her last feed to the next one 😅

Love to dream swaddle and very tight blanket tucked in under sides and low down on body Other option is co sleeping It is normal but exhausting sending love

Not got any words of advice but wanted you to know I could have wrote this myself & this is my second baby! My first had all sorts of problems (silent reflux/ cmpa) but my daughter just will not sleep on her back currently (I’ve tried co sleeping & she still doesn’t). I’m exhausted & in the trenches with you but I know it will pass. I currently sleep 9-12 while my partner has her so I at least get some sleep. I usually get about another hour/2 max of broken sleep after that. Could you do something like that?

Our baby was the same for the first week, a Velcro swaddle bag and white noise have made a huge difference for us

@Georgie to be fair the LTD swaddles are very tight too, but this has worked for our babies. Oh I know how you feel! Our little one is waking every 3 hours, I’m much more strict at getting him straight back into his swaddle after a feed and a little sit upright so I can get as much sleep as possible 🥲 white noise worked wonders with our first. We had the tommee tippee Ollie the Owl which had a heartbeat sound that she loved!

Love to Dream swaddle and white noise work well for us :)

Play baby white noise on YouTube

We got a pram rocker, I put it on the Moses basket. My boy is 3 weeks and he’s sleeping in that at the moment as it’s more snug x

I co sleep, it's the only way I can get sleep.
