Breastfeeding and pregnant

Hellooooo might be a stupid question I am breastfeeding my 5mo and just found out I’m pregnant can I continue to breastfeed or will that cause issues during my pregnancy. I’ve been reading that pumping can cause issues but I pump while I’m at work for my son. Do I need to switch him to formula?

Many people do continue. I did , but then my milk stopped producing when my baby was 12 months and I was 4 months pregnant. Around 4 months hormone production changes for more nuance for growing baby. Contact your lactation specialist for extra assistance and how to tandem feed once your second is born. If you have a high risk pregnancy maybe stop. But it’s also fine if you were already feeding. Since your body knows to produce

You can totally keep breastfeeding if you and your 5mo want to! This might be useful 😊 https://www.breastfeeding.asn.au/resources/breastfeeding-through-pregnancy

I continued until my son self weaned. I think he didn’t like the taste. I know some people have supply issues as their pregnancy continues but for us it seemed like he started to find the experience unappealing or different than it had been. I was sad about it!

You can carry on as long as you like. Around 4 months your milk will start to change and your baby may reject it

I continued, but as others have said, you will dry up because of a change in hormones. Because your little one is still so young adding in formula would probably be necessary x

I‘m still breastfeeding my 2.5 yo, currently pregnant almost at due date

You definitely can, but baby might self wean or you might feel it's too much and not want to continue (it's ok to feel that way)
