@Jade Thank you! This makes me feel a little better as I thought I was feeding baby too much. Have they sorted it all for your little one? X
Pepti 1 comes in 800g tins too so ask did those to be prescribed instead! I did the maths same as you and sent it to GP to say exactly how much I need. We now get 8 tins a month.
My baby has been on neocate since 4 weeks n he's almost 8 months now, and every single time I've gone to order or collect his milk it has been a struggle, I'm constantly on the phone with doctors n receptions n pharmacist just trying to get his milk because it always gets denied or they won't release it until a certain date n I've ran out so many times it's unreal. My first point will be that no matter what ur GP says u can always call 111 or nhs app order an emergency prescription so that u have the ability to feed ur child, I have had to use this so many times because my GPs r useless. 2 u have to request regularly a medication review for your child and tell them to increase the amount of milk they give u in a 28 day period, doctors do not take in to account that they grow and drink more milk so u have to physically sit down with them n tell them exactly how much you need now based on how much they are currently drinking. Everytime they go up an ounce get another medication review
When you order it on the NHS app in the notes section you can also right out ur maths n explain to them why u have ran out so quickly which is why u need more. If u literally spell it out like they're n idiot they usually find there brain and approve it. I am sorry ur also going through this it fucking sucks that they r so incompetent, never stand fir having to feed ur child milk they r allergic to, call, shout, argue and threaten with law suits malpractice anything u can until they get it right and always use 111 to get an emergency prescription even if it's past 5 they can send it to an emergency pharmacy which r usually in Asda n if its past 8pm they can send you to ur nearest hospital to get it because children's wards always have some. Ur baby has a right to eat safely never let them forget that, ur doing well fighting for ur baby but it should never be this hard x
@Jade if u tell them to issue the milk "on the spine" it means u can go into any pharmacy in the UK and ask for it, it sucks but this way you are guaranteed to find somewhere that actually has it x
@Naomi I wouldn’t say that sounds like you’re feeding him too much, he’d let you know if you were! There is also no ‘one size fits all’ feed volume/schedule for babies, they should be fed on demand unless there are medical reasons not to so if he’s happy then continue! Our main issue was with her silent reflux medication, it took me 4 months and 3 A&E trips in the end to get it sorted unfortunately but we got there when she was about 5 months old! X
@Willow never knew this! Our issue wasn’t with milk it was with reflux medication, but my GP has been truly ridiculous with her CMPA from the outset and I’ve had to do most things myself! X
@Jade I had the same problem with my boys reflux medication as well but u can order emergency prescriptions for that and ask for it to be on the spine as well you can do with with any prescription medication x
I’ve had many issues with my GP over my little girls CMPA and silent reflux, I’ve had to literally spell things out for them like they’re idiots at times! Chances are they haven’t even acknowledged what the prescription is, they’ll just have looked at the date and seen it’s not ‘due’ then rejected it. I’d go down first thing in the morning and have all this written out to give to them, tell them exactly how many tins you need and that you need it doing in 24 hours as an emergency. Also make the point that pharmacies don’t stock these milks and they have to be ordered. We have had to threaten to make a formal complaint and report our GP for withholding medical treatment from our baby which will cause them harm. It sounds really serious and OTT but effectively it is what is happening if they don’t prescribe you with something that is essentially ‘medication’ x
