Issues with Xonvea Prescription

When I had my 12 week hospital appointment I was given Xonvea to help with nausea and sickness, thankfully it worked unlike the other medications I was first given. When it ran out I asked my GP for a top Up who said no it was a hospital only medication and I had to be reassessed for it at my next midwife appointment, which meant I had to start and stop it causing me to be more sick. Fast forward today I had my midwife appointment and they can’t do anything about it, they said the GP can prescribe even though I said the GP said no. They advised I call 111, which I did and even they are not able to do anything for me, they kept going on about the GP prescribing it, when I already explained I was told no by the GP. Like who on earth do I speak to about getting this medication, going around in circles all whilst being sick!!! Why did they prescribe it to me in the first place only to go through this 😭😭😭

Your GP should 100% be prescribing you Xonvea. I have no idea why they’re being so difficult about it. Could you ask to speak to a different GP? If you’re still having trouble, I recommend reaching out to Pregnancy Sickness Support — they’re a charity who can let you know your rights and how to advocate for yourself. They really helped me in my first trimester while I was navigating HG. So sorry you’re having to suffer instead of being supported. Good luck 💕

My gp prescribed me 20 only after i told them the hospital had prescribed me Xonvea. They said it’s not advised to take it long term but thats literally the only thing that helps my sickness. Im also worried the gp might refuse to prescribe it again😭

@Ruken the fact that they give it to you in the first place then take it away is ridiculous! I was even taking the lowest dosage and was planning to slowly come of it once I was better. There’s plenty of women who take it there whole pregnancy because of how sick they are 😢 I hope you have better luck getting it re prescribed xx

My gp won’t prescribe Xonvea, I asked for it and they looked it up and said they’re not allowed to prescribe it which is decided by the pharmacist that covers that particular area.

My gp said i should go back on cyclizine once i finish my xonvea but cyclizine made me soooo freaking drowsy all day and still i was vomiting so hopefully I’ll either get more xonvea or i won’t be sick once im off the meds😭 good luck to you too xx
