Is there a correlation?

Recently, I've been thinking about high needs babies and trying to figure out if there's a link between a difficult/challenging baby and traumatic perinatal experience. How was your pregnancy experience? How was your birth? Is your baby easygoing, or are they fussy and irritable no matter what you do?

Easy Pregnancy (Minus 1st trimester) Hard birth Easy baby but definitely has her moments as expected

Easy pregnancy, hard birth, easy baby (most of the time)!

Horrific twin pregnancy.. . Two easy babies !

Easy pregnancy but had huge stressful external factors (homeless, financial worries, dad died, baby dad left) Easy, enjoyable birth despite complications (baby heart rate dropped, suction, manual removal of placenta) Easy baby

Hard pregnancy, easy birth in the end (c-section after 3 failed attempts at induction), easy baby

Pregnancy was easy, birth was definitely not but baby is pretty chill

Got a hard hat trick here 😂😂😂

I personally think it’s true (with some outliers of course)! My first was an extremely traumatic birth for both baby and me. 5 day induction/labor ending in emergency c-section, little 4lb baby with jaundice, couldn’t latch. Had horrible reflux, colic… a very ‘high needs’ baby and he’s a really tough toddler now as well. My August baby was a perfectly fine pregnancy and great/easy planned c-section. She’s an angel.

I had 2 easy pregnancies, 2 easy births, one high needs baby, one in the middle (definitely not easy, but not quite as hard work as her sister). Both sleep terribly though

Easy pregnancy, hard birth, easy baby
