Sleep

How are people putting their little ones down for a sleep? I still hold my son in my arms until he is asleep, every nap and every night. The transfer to his cot is becoming less and less successful and is becoming an issue in itself but I’ve also just found out that I’m pregnant so feeling under pressure to get him settling himself before baby is born. Any advice welcome x

No words of advice for transitioning unfortunately. I still hold my boy until he falls asleep, both for nap and bedtime and we co-sleep so maybe that makes transitioning for us better at night time. Daddy does the same when I’m not around too. Congratulations on number 2. I hope you find a way through that works for you x

Thanks Emma. I often co-sleep as well as it means we all get a sleep. I’m just conscious that may be tricky with a newborn waking in the night etc. I’m wondering if it is especially tough right now due to a sleep regression or something. I know there is one about this time x

We got our LB a floor bed which has been a game changer for us. He won't settle himself at bedtime, but he'll go to sleep if either me or his dad lay with him. I also still rock him to sleep for naps, he'd probably sleep if I put him in bed and lay with him then as well but I like the snuggles 🥰 Congratulations on baby no2 🩵🩷 x

I have no idea about sleep regressions at this age, but I’ve got to admit I stopped looking at regressions as it felt like there was one all the time 😂 take a look at co-sleeping groups on Facebook. There is so much advice on co-sleeping with 2 and from what I’ve read the first born adapts pretty well to the little one re night wake ups. Obviously if that’s something you want to consider x

I started a chair training. Its not to bad but very inconsistent. We are doing it for like 10 days now as slowly moving further from the bed. Some evenings he falls asleep straight away and some he stand up and try to get out but eventually falls asleep.

I’ve always given his bottle in his bedroom and held to sleep, then transitioned to his cot. However for the past month I think he knows it’s bedtime and he’s not been asleep but very relaxed lying on me, after 5-10 mins I put him down and he cuddled his teddy for a minute then rolls over and goes to sleep. I think as he’s getting older and doesn’t stop moving he’s less resistant to bedtime and has just started to get himself to sleep. No idea how we got here…. But sometimes they just transition themselves. 🤷🏻‍♀️
