Depends on the weight. Our first ones were for 8lbs+. Our LO was born at 6lb 4 so it was about 3 weeks until he was big enough. We used cellular blankets tucked in beforehand
We did exactly the same as Maddi, as my little girl was only 6lb 2 so was too small for any of the sleep bags :)
I used the Tommee tippee sleep bags from birth, my little girl weighed enough to use the from birth ones. They have poppers on the arms so you can keep arms in or out but she actually preferred her arms out after a couple of weeks. Just check the minimum weight on the bags you’ve bought rather than the age x
My little boy absolutely hated to be swaddled so was in the Tommee Tippee swaddle bags with his arms out from the 2nd night we had him home. They are fitted around the neck and you can popper around the arms so no worry slipping in. I think they are from 7lb something, it says on their website.
We also went for the Tommee Tippee swaddle bags and our girl loves having her arms in. We’re about to transition to arms out by doing one arm out each night and alternating. Being able to stick to the same bag and do this using the poppers on the shoulders is really handy. It’s served as a swaddle just fine up to now.
My daughter didn’t like to be swaddled. Always been in sleep bags x
Ewan the sheep do from birth sleep bags. Also my own personal opinion if I could go back I wouldn’t swaddle we did not expect our boy to roll so soon as having to get him out the swaddle like basically overnight was hell!!
You can’t do either and also in Sainsbury’s they sell onesie sleep bags they’re amazing 😭🫶🏼
Normal sleep bags are usually for above 8lbs something but we had the Tommy tippee swaddle bags and they were good from 7lb. I used to put her arms in those when she was tiny but there's no need to definitely swaddle. Some babies react very well to it. Some don't like it.
I had mine in a sleep bag with arm holes he didn't wanna be swaddled
Yeah another tommee tippee gal! From birth x
They have to be 10lb in weight before you use a sleep bag xx
@Amey the Tommee tippee ones are from 7 pounds. My baby weighed 7.6 and went straight in to a newborn one. Different brands vary in size x
We also used the tommee tippee swaddles and loved them for the first few months
Sleep bags are fine as long as it’s the right size and they can’t wriggle down.
