My son was 2 when we started. Took him to the shops let him choose some pants and a potty. The next day he wanted to wear his ‘big boy’ pants. He was totally try in about 1 month.

I bought a potty at 18 months for her to get used to it. She sat on it when playing (as did her dolls). When she sat on it I’d ask her if she was doing a wee wee. Then shortly after her 2nd birthday, she wasn’t wearing a nappy and sat on it. I asked her the same question and she did…. Very few accidents since. She does flat out refuse to poo on the potty though. So there is that.

I let my son choose some pants and a potty when he was 2 but waited until he was 2 and a half and he asked to wear 'big boy pants' to get started. Then we stayed indoors for 3 days and let him be naked from the waist down prompting him if he needed a wee a lot! There were a number of accidents on the floor but we stayed calm, told him that was OK and that next time he needs to try and get to the potty. He was pretty much dry after those 3 days and poos took a couple of weeks to get right.

I started potty training my daughter at 11 months. We began by both sitting on the toilet/potty in the mornings and she would do a wee/poo every morning on the potty. At 18 months, I introduced using the potty before nap times. At 2, I went full throttle and put her in training knickers. It took about a month to stay dry during the day at nursery (she rarely had accidents at home because I constantly put her on the potty). She mainly had accidents at nursery because she didn’t want to miss out on fun going to the toilet or forgetting to ask for help. I took the whole thing slowly but in hindsight, probably could’ve had her fully trained a lot sooner if I didn’t but it worked for us. Good luck 💛

I started at seven months by sitting in my little girl on her potty every single morning it’s now built into her routine every morning. She does a wee and poo on the potty now she’s over one I’m gonna start asking nursery to put her on a potty when she wakes up from a nap to see if she will goand when she is at home offering the potty as and when I feel like she may need it

We did it at 2.5 but from 10 months had a potty near his bath which got him curious. And after 1.5 we startrd reading his potty books to him

@Emma i want to do this when my 2nd can sit up. Do u use pull ups inbetween? My first kiddo would have been great at this as he became regular with 1 6am poop every morning from v young age but at 4 months, my 2nd child varies and still poops after/during feeds

@Duvaraka I still use nappies so if I can’t get her to the potty in time, she’s fine. I waited until seven months so she was fully sitting unassisted and she was regular with her morning we and poo. Solids disrupted her a little bit but we’re back in a rhythm nursery have been great with saying they’ll put her on the potty when she wakes up from naps as well.
