Toddler issues

How long does their tantrums & fussiness last? My LO started tantrums before she turned one & she's now 2 but they've gotten worse. Her tantrums consists of her head banging, throwing herself around, whether it be backwards or forwards, hair pulling (her own), scratching, kicking, if she's on the bed or couch she'll throw herself down. I've had people say to don't pay attention to her that it's attention seeking but it's hard to ignore sometimes because she's hurting herself & she ends up with bumps & bruises all over head as well as clumps of her own hair in her hand & on the floor. Is this a disorder or just a tantrum throwing toddler? We've got an appointment with a paediatrician in July but I'm so antsy about it. Her behaviour is very worrisome.

My baby does the same when shes overstimulated or overtired. Try watching her wake windows as well as screen time, just making sure she’s not getting too wound up. It’s a hard stage for sure

@Claire thanks lovey. She gets so triggered easily like when I tell her to stop doing something or no or when she's doing something and she can't get it right. She's only having 1 nap a day now and and on rare occasions two. During the day screen time is monitored by her dad and its very limited. When I'm home from work, its on the TV & She's just running around. I'll try see if we can get her napping twice instead of once.

During a tantrum where she can hurt herself, you can put her in a safe play pen. You can add her favorite teddy and sit next to her, talk peacefully so she can feel her feelings validated. You can carry her outside in a fresh air if it's safe for both of you.
