A c section is an emergency/unplanned c section unless it’s entirely planned.. recovery is exactly the same. My first was 23 hours labour then emergency, and my second was a semi failed induction due to her being surprise breach.. laboured approx 14 hours and ended with section. Both recovery’s were tough for different reasons, but I was lucky and up and about after 3 days. It is HUGE surgery and a lot is expected of you, so you need to try and arrange for help to be available where possible, especially if you have another child at home x
Depends on the circumstances and how far along you are, it will be classed as an emergency one if you are in established labour but won’t necessarily be an emergency. I was induced to try for a VBAC I was in labour for around 12 hours (got the epidural after 6 cos I couldn’t cope) after getting some sleep and being assessed in the morning & only progressing by 1cm I said I was done & wanted a section. It was classed as cat 2 emergency but it was completely chill and nothing like the EMCS I had had previously x
How can they determine that your natural birth has failed if you haven’t had it yet? Xx
@Shannon I tore really bad with my first and it’s caused quite an extensive amount of damage down there
@Samantha I have quite significant scarring down there from tearing badly with my first, they’ve advised me to have a section to avoid tearing again and causing more damage. But personally I feel unless there’s a very high chance of me tearing again, I don’t see why I can’t at least try and have another vaginal birth
I was the same and have just had a c section xx
A c section is the same no matter if it’s emergency or a planned. I had an emergency c section with my first because I was 10cm dilated and he was stuck and his heart rate was dropping. I had a planned with my second a couple of weeks ago and the recovery has been much better but only because I didn’t have a 36 hour labour on top of the c section.
Why are you being pushed to have a section?
