Extending Naps

My 7 month old has started waking more - particularly pre midnight - and I think she’s just overtired. We’ll get 2-3 naps a day but never totalling more than 1.5 hours (I read some people have that in just one nap). Online it says to resettle after a nap but she wakes up so awake it’s near impossible. Just wondered if anyone had any tips?

Being ‘overtired’ is generally a bit of a myth pushed by ‘sleep consultants’ and those in the sleep training industry. If baby is wide awake after a nap they’ve likely slept as much as they’ve needed. If baby is waking more pre midnight I’d honestly say it sounds more like too much sleep overall. What time is bedtime and wake time?

12 hours overnight is quite a lot tbh for a baby. Most don’t actually need that much. Average sleep needs in 24 hours are about 11-14 hours at this age so could be aiming for too much sleep. For example my son has about 2.5 hours of naps in the day and 9.5 hours overnight now. If I attempted more he would fight it as he’s not tired! X
