Diastasis

Hi everyone, During my pregnancy I gained quite a lot of weight, and now I'm pretty sure I have diastasis recti. I’ve tried asking the NHS about it, but I haven’t received much help or clear answers. I’m wondering how I can figure out the degree of diastasis I have. Is there any way to know how severe it is without a proper medical assessment? Also, I’ve read that depending on the type or severity, surgery might be necessary. Has anyone gone through this or can share some advice or personal experience? Thanks in advance!

If there’s any fitness instructors near you who specialise and run any new mum or mum and baby workout classes sometimes they’re trained to check. I’ve started going to mum and baby workout classes myself and the instructor volunteered to check us all for this at the beginning of the session. It involved me laying in my back, when I breathed out I had to lift my head and shoulders of the mat and she ran her fingers down the middle of my stomach to check for any separation

I had mine checked and was given exercises by a mummy MOT physiotherapist. It's private but not very expensive.
