@Incognito he wakes tired and crying. He babbles a bit but it's more of a whiny babble as if trying to self soothe. Doesn't have much interest in a bottle. I'm thinking it may be separation anxiety now you mention it. He mostly settles when held then disturbs again once put down
I'm going through this at 19 months old!
Yes that’s what my little one does, settles as soon as held and then cry’s when put down! Sounds like Separation anxiety x
@Incognito how have you been dealing with this? X
@Michaela honestly, just keep resettling in cot and which takes 1.5hrs on average 😭 if anyone has any tips to get through it I’d love to know!
@Incognito that's what we've been doing but it also takes us around 1.5-2 hours😥
It’s exhausting isn’t it! It’s been going on months as well, not every night but most and can’t see an end in sight! I have found when he has good daytime naps (2 hrs or more in total) it very rarely happens (but he’s a fomo baby so this is hard to get) but he’s just started nursery last week and he won’t nap there so it’s just as bad!
@Incognito months?! Oh god😥 it's pretty recent for us but has been going on for about 2 weeks, every single night. It's ever since he started in nursery, and I've gone back to work
@Incognito this is what I've been doing. Last night I tried bringing him in with me but no luck he just wriggled around. It's awful. So overstimulating because you're just so tired
Is he sleeping well at nursery? Could be over tired causing the wake ups that he then needs help to get back to sleep or that the separation at nursery is causing the separation anxiety? Yes months 🫠 praying it ends soon! I think we’ve just been unlucky due to his temperament
@Michaela yeah and it’s such a long time to be awake in the middle of the night I really struggle to go back to sleep once he is settled again so I feel awful the next day 😭
@Incognito I am the same. It was 3:45 this morning and went on for over an hour and I pretty much just lay awake waiting for him to wake again and he didn't till 6:45 so that's 2 hours I could have slept! X
@Incognito he will have a 40 minute nap at nursery but at home he would usually nap for at least 1.5-2 hours, so maybe he is overtired. But saying that he's also doing it on weekends when we have him at home so I definitely think it's the separation. Ahh I hope it gets better for us all soon, it's definitely an awful phase. I feel like I'm struggling more with this now than I was with the newborn phase!
Is he waking at 12 happy and babbling or crying and tired? If happy and babbling then daytime nap routine probably needs adjusting to create more sleep pressure, if he’s waking tired and crying then rule out comfort (hunger, teething, etc) but mine is currently going through a separation anxiety phase and is waking tired and crying and will only settle in our bed 🫠
