Please help..

How do I get my son to poo on the toilet or potty he just won't have it doesn't matter what I do or bribe him with it's no and that the end of it, he starts school in September and I really want this out the way before he starts. Will only poo in a nappy that is it, will wee in the toilet fine no problems has been for a year and doesn't wet the bed at all. But just won't poo in the toilet I've refused to buy nappies anymore he's held his poo in now for 2 days.. he can't hold it in forever.. what do I do? Let him have an accident I can't keep giving in buying nappies

I think a lot of children have a fear of their poo disappearing, being flushed away and it being a part of them. We used a potty that looked like a toilet and had a little pretend flush. I’m sure you probably have already but books on the potty about pooping, I actually done a wee on my daughters potty to show her and I don’t have any privacy when pooping so we often wave our poos goodbye down the toilet 🙈😂

So the poo thing is normal! They’ve been in a nappy and the poo doesn’t really have to ‘travel’ out of them but on the toilet or potty it’s falling a distance so obviously feels really weird! Your right he can’t hold it forever but maybe try and encourage sitting on the toilet for longer and see if it will come, ultimately if he has an accident he has an accident but try not to make it an issue, next time we need to go on the toilet or potty. The potty might be less scary than the toilet!

My son also starts school in September & has only just started to poo in the potty properly, we have tried 4 different types of potty’s, reward charts, treats etc but I just had to wait for him to be ready in the end. It’s so hard & I know we’re all pressured more for time :/ does he do anything that indicates he’s about to poo? Maybe sit him down when you can see he’s about to? (My son will go stand in a certain place in the kitchen) x

Also another tip is get him to sit on the toilet a blow bubbles… they can’t hold the poo in amd blow bubbles

We have this because of constipation, if she urgently needs to go she will go on the toilet otherwise I let her use a nappy at home as otherwise I don’t want her holding it in and making it worse. We are going to get movicol from the doctor as she won’t take lactulose, and the ERIC website is really helpful. She pood in the toilet when she was still one, it actually came before she was potty trained, but being constipated changed that for her. If he can use the toilet independently and just poos at home that’s better than holding it.

@Sarah no he tells me when he wants a poo but it's nappy and I've tried to put him on the toilet he kicks right off about it, we've done charts etc etc you name it I've done it, I'm just gonna wait till he's ready bugger it 😳🤣

Sometimes it can be about not understanding what poo is. There is a book - what is poo by usbourne books. Its a flappy book. It can help normalise it.

Also having them blow bubbles whilst on the toilet.
