Following. I’m currently receiving my antenatal at Homerton and no complaints as of now but would be nice to hear people’s stories!

I had a good experience with my 1st there 2 and half years ago, and about to have my second there in about 7 weeks. Had no issues, a friend just had her baby there recently and also had a good experience.

That’s great ! I also had my first there in 2023 but recently there’s been so many mixed reviews so got me a little nervous I’m hoping for a good experience again 🤞🏾🙌🏽

Two of my friends gave there a birth recently and they had very good experience.

Had my son in 2023 and daughter last month. I really had a positive experience both times. Both my babies had to spend time in NICU and Homerton have excellent facilities for this and the nurses are lovely. This time around I spent a few days on the ward which I didn’t do last time and it was pretty noisy and chaotic but that was more to do with the other mums and their partners than the staff. They were doing some construction and works around the hospital and on the ward so had some extra noisy moments but one of the things they did was install Air con units which should improve the comfort of future patients.

I gave birth there in July 2024. I had a great experience. I cannot fault the staff at all. They genuinely cared about me. I had a very difficult birth where I ended up in ICU and my baby in NICU. I know they did the best they could. They have a lot of student midwives so I always felt like there was someone willing to help (shout out to the young girl who showered me the day after I had my baby🤣) If I was having another baby I’d opt to go back.

@Hannah aww congratulations! Yea had the same experience on the ward too ! Thats good to hear though that your experience was good ! Amazing I was definitely very hot last time !

@Sophia glad you got great care ! the student midwives are lovely aren’t they ! I’m feeling a lot more confident about my choice to stay at Homerton with all the great experiences now 🙌🏽

I gave birth there last year. Was initially in the birth centre in the birthing pool. It was lovely. Ended up having to go into the delivery room as baby had done a poo in me and the Drs helped get her out. I have 2 negatives but this is more from me not being able to stand up for myself as much as i should have: 1) I wanted delayed cord clamping till the cord turned white. They only done 1 minute which is standard practice, but was against my wishes and I was too overwhelmed to speak up at the time 2) They didn’t send me home with the pain meds I requested. I ended up having to go to the GP who gave me other meds that caused me more problems during my recovery and I ended up having an array of issues that could’ve been avoided. However, id definitely go back to homerton for my next and just be firmer in my voice x

@Serena I really want the birth centre this time it was too busy last time so I had to deliver in a delivery room instead. Actually similar thing happened to me with cord clamping I completely forgot to mention it because they had to get baby out quick but yes wish I had spoken up too ! Sorry to hear about the pain meds , situation definitely could have been avoided.

@Rachael I asked about business at the time of my birth to mentally prepare myself that I may not get the birth centre or have a water birth at all. But I got really lucky and was the only person in the birth centre when I arrived so got the best room there. Just one of those things. But ye definitely need to speak up for ourselves more. My poor partner did his best but was also just as overwhelmed at what he had just witnessed and experienced 😅🤣

@Serena ohhh good idea I’ll try to remember to ask before hand ! Yhh very true ! I prepped myself to speak up on many things but definitely didn’t in the end 🤦🏽‍♀️ n yea it’s traumatic for them too 😭
