I had an emergency c section. Got given antisickness drugs, went in, told to lean forwards and they put the spinal in. They put the catheter in. I already had a canula in as I was induced (the worst bit for me). Blue screen went up after they checked I was numb and 30 seconds later baby was out. Surgery was max an hour. 8 hours later I got the feeling in my feet back so they go me up onto the chair next to my bed. My pain wasn't managed well and I was in horrific pain. I've broken bones and ripped my entire sternum & neither match that pain. I didn't have complications but I was very bruised because they had to get baby out fast, so that didn't help.
Depending on the level of pain you can handle after your c section is done i recommend taking half the dose pain medication they give you....that stuff is too strong.
Please get your rest during recovery. Try not to do too much too soon. I know it’s easier said than done but it will be worth it. Also, make sure your incision stays dry. The drs say it’s okay to shower after a day or two but be mindful, use a mild soap and make sure your incision is completely dry afterwards.
I have an emergency C-section 2 week ago I’m also diabetic. They checked my blood sugars before I went in then used my sensor throughout to make sure my sugar levels were normal. They were amazing with me I’m not good with needles so they numbed before putting the cannula in. I was on an insulin drip the whole surgery. The surgery its self took about 30mins for me anyway. Recovery the epidural made me so itchy it was the worse pain. I was up and walking after 2 hours. Day 3-5 are painful however if you keep on top of pain relief it’s ok. I over done it as my girl is in the NICU. If you have any questions you can always message me. Good luck and congratulations xx
