Crawling baby

I bed share with my 8 month old. My partner sleeps on our normal double bed, and then our baby and I sleep on a double bed which is on the floor next to him. Our baby has really started to roll all over the place. The other day I woke up and he had rolled off the top of the bed (yes the top, not the side haha.) Got me thinking, how does everyone navigate the crawling stage? I'd wake up and my baby would be the other side of the room no doubt!

Here for the replies. Lol. I need to know also.

Here for the replies also, apart from a padded room walls to floor not too sure lol

I've started just shutting my bedroom door and having some of his toys in the room that way if he does wake up before me and not wake me up he'll just get up from the bed and go play lol. 🙃

I guess if your mattress fits in a play pen that's also an option until they can climb

My baby is starting to crawl across the bed when she wakes and we're downstairs 🙈 I'm thinking it means it's time to move her to her own bed, we've got her a floor bed with side rails so she can't immediately fall out. My son I put into a double floor bed at 12 months but he never bothered crawling in the night and would just sit up and cry for me.

When my baby first fell off the bed we just got rid of our bed and put a mattress on the floor. Room was baby proof with gates up to the closet and at the bedroom door. Then it didn't matter if he was on the other side of the room bc the environment was safe

Our mattress is in the corner of the room, then I sleep on the outside, so there’s only the bottom of the bed baby could get out of. Then, make the room baby safe in case they get out. We have a baby gate on the door too.
