If you went into labour naturally, which happened first? Contractions or your water breaking?

Just curious. My water broke and my contractions needed to be induced.

Contractions. They had to break my water 😭

@Roshana same here!

Contractions and on the strongest one my water broke. Happened for all 3 of my deliveries the same. My water only trickled out for the last one though so they ended up breaking it at the hospital, it was leaking before they popped it.

I never even knew when my water broke but it must have been some time during transition as I was already in the birthing pool. I’m curious to see what happens this time (37weeks). My midwife recommends Vitamin C with bioflavonoids to help strengthen the placenta to keep from an early eruption. Maybe talk to your provider about that if you’re concerned about it breaking and having to be induced.

Contractions on both of mine, had to have my waters broken on my second

I had contractions first! My water didn’t break til hours later on the ambulance 🚑😩

Contractions then water broke

My water broke and 24 hours later still nothing, I had to be induced due to risk of infection

Both my water broke when at the hospital contracting! Thought mine broke with my first turned out I peed myself 😂😂😂 x

My first one my water broke and I had to get induced to start contractions and the second one I had contractions and my water broke before maybe at 7 cm

Back contractions for about 12 hours before my water broke.

I had one each way. With my first contractions started at 7am and my water broke that night at 1am. My second I had no contractions and my water broke at 1:41am and had her 3:15am but they started once it broke and they were close together

Contractions. All 3 births. They had to break my waters it never popped on its own. If they didn’t pop it my baby would probably have been born w the sac still in place 😂

With my 1st my waters went first then contractions. With my 2nd contractions started & my waters didn't break till she was coming out🤣 Both spontaneous natural labours😊

“If I went* into labor..” but I wouldn’t know if it’s the future tense. I know that when I did go into labor.. my contractions happened first and my water never broke. Also I gave birth upright at home.

My waters didn’t break till I was fully dilated. 3 pushes later I had a whole baby 😂 With my first I had to have them broken for me.

Water never broke, they were broken for me X

My water broke early and they had to manually open up my cervix with their fingers multiple times! Worse pain everrrrr

With my first my water went first then contractions started after, but he was 6 weeks premature. With my second contractions first and waters didn't go until his head was out, he was full term. Both very quick spontaneous deliveries x

contractions. with my second my waters broke as my body started pushing and baby was born 9 minutes later!

Contractions for 4 days then my water broke with my first push lol

Both times my water broke then contractions started. With my first I didn't go into labour until almost a week after they broke (I had a lot of fluid) and with my second it broke at night and by morning contractions kicked in.

First child - I didn’t feel any contractions till it was time for me to push the baby out. My water did break but I didn’t even know it was my water that broke due to feeling no pain at all. Second child - I had contractions but the had to break my water at the hospital before pushing the baby out. 🫠

contractions. my water didn’t break until 20+ hours into labor right before i pushed

Contractions then my water broke when I was 5 cm dilated with my daughter. Contractions and then my water broke at 8 cm, and my son was born about 20 mins later. It happened really fast the second time.

First pregnancy - waters broke and contractions started 4 hours or so later Second pregnancy - contractions started and ended in an emergency c section

My first one my water broke and contractions started about 12 hours later. My second contractions started first and water broke giving birth

contractions i labored at home for 24 hrs until i couldn’t do it nm , they broke my water while i was in labor i believe at 5-6 cms dilated

Contractions don’t even know or remember when my waters broke lol

My water didn’t break for my first they broke it at about 7cm dialated and she was here within 10 minutes contractions had started about 25 hours before she was born
