@maddie thank you! I’m heading out on a snack run shortly so definitely plan to stock up! Good idea RE the clothes in the car too… I had visions of me rocking up with a huge and totally impractical suitcase 😂
@Milly good plan! I left some baby clothes in the car too as I wasn’t sure what size he would be in so I had options. Hope it all goes well :)
My induction kicked in within a couple hours, they can come on very fast if you have a sensitive reaction, a birthing comb to help you through the contractions and some isotonic drinks to prevent you from dehydrating, also some light snacks, (although they don't tend to like you eating just incase)! Good luck!
I’d also recommend a tens machine if you have one. It’s great for the early contractions and the hospital won’t provide one. Agree with extra clothes, snacks, and entertainment, you might be there for a few days.
An eye mask and ear plugs to help with sleeping. The ward I was on was quite loud and you didn’t go to the delivery suite until you were 4cm. Extra clothes, I was able to go for walks. A pillow.
I had an induction at Southend in Feb, I didn’t wanna touch my hosp bag Incase I was there for a long time so I packed an extra pair of pjs, lounge wear and T-shirt/leggings cos you never know how long you’ll be in there for! Also if you have the oxy drip, go straight for an epidural, don’t need to be a hero 🤣 good luck! Feel free to PM me if you want any other advice xx
@Lucy thank you I’m Southend too! I was booked in on Monday but declined so back in tomorrow. Feel a bit better for going to see the consultant and delivery suite as it feels a bit less like the unknown but obviously still nervous - hoping they may get a wiggle on before the morning but who knows! X
Extra PJs and snacks. And a tracksuit so your comfy when you go for a walk x
I thought I had over packed and ended up in hospital for 7 days, I ran out of everything so fast😭
iPad, snacks, own pillow from home and a reading book! Xx
I took two pillows, a week worth of clothes and pjs, snacks, headphones, extra pants, flip flops for the shower, surface wipes, water wipes, a fan, toiletries, hair brush, hair ties, Vaseline (your lips will get dry), hand cream, towel, wash bag, I packed maternity pads but I did not pack enough! You would not believe how much water comes out when they burst your waters. I had to send my partner out two times to get more pads! I also purchased iced pads from boots they were great even though I ended up having a c section.
@Milly honestly please don’t be nervous! The midwives are so lovely, and help you every step of the way! I had a really good induction experience, 8 hours from water popping to meeting my baby, (only pushed for 30 mins!) you will be absolutely fine x
My induction took 6 days…I took my own pillow which was a nice home comfort. I took my iPad with plenty of shows/films downloaded and packed lots of snacks. I also packed extra clothes etc and left them in the car so that I didn’t have to lug them all in at the start incase it didn’t take so long. Oh and headphones and ear plugs so you can get a semi decent nights sleep if it takes a while x
