Midges are only really that bad if your in the campsites etc in gairloch, the rest of gairloch is fine
@E we're in a cottage in Opinan. I've never been but we're going with my parents who go often. I don't know what walks we're planning on going on
@Nicole just the normal one? I'll ask my health visitor if it's safe to use for her. Thanks
@Ellie Ahh! I’ve not been to opinan myself, just big sands, strath and surrounding, however gairloch beach is usually okay (minus the jellyfish lol) As long as you stay away from the rocky bits, long grass etc. hope you have a fantastic stay anyway. Gairloch is great
Hi I live in Gairloch, my folks in Badachro. The midgies don’t like the wind or sun, so will only be bad if it is a very calm grey day. If you are moving/ walking they shouldn’t affect you. I would say none of the sprays are that affective so we don’t bother. Mornings and evenings would be the worst before the sun comes up properly. Hope that helps
@ellie Yeah just the normal spray.
We’ve used the NATPAT patches - they smell like citronella and we just stuck them over the pram/carrier and on clothes and they seemed to work. I was bitten but my daughter wasn’t!
@Anna that's really helpful, thank you
@Melissa I'll look into them, thank you
Avon Skin So Soft is the best deterrent but you would have to check what age you can use it from.
