2 year old acting out

Hey, just looking for some advice… my two year old has just started daycare, before that I was at home with her and now I’m working. The transition has been really hard. Mornings and evenings are just endless tantrums, her sleep has also been affected. She was always a great independent sleeper, now she doesn’t like going in her crib but wants to fall asleep in a big bed. Does anyone have any advice? We are trying to be patient and give her lots of stability, but there have been so many changes to her routine with me working now that I’m sure it’s unsettling for her. The tantrums often are very physical with hitting and kicking… anyone else going through something similar?

Hi, I used to work at a daycare as a teacher. You are describing normal behavior for such a change. It can be challenging to handle. She might be wanting a big bed from what they use at the daycare. However you can get her used to the change by being as consistent as possible. This will take time but it will get better. Consistency and routine are going to be your saving grace in this time. It's never easy but it will get better. If she is having a hard time adjusting in the morning at daycare as well come up with a goodbye routine for drop off. Holidays will be hard as well. Talking to the teacher can also be very helpful for you and her.
