Newborn

I have a newborn who is only week old has eye discharge. Any advice what I can do? I do rub with hot water and cotton.

My daughter had it when she was born and I needed antibiotics for her, it was a simple one , drops if I recall. Only reason she needed is because she was still small so I would ask the doctor tomorrow. And also as you say , boiled water that’s been cooled down with cotton wool.

It could have just been an ointment , I can’t remember but definitely we had to go to the hospital to get her seen by a doctor and they prescribed something

Looks like conjunctivitis, use warm water and a cotton ball, only use the cotton ball to wipe once and replace cotton ball (this is to prevent the infection getting worse), take baby to gp or pharmacist as there are eye drops specifically for conjunctivitis
