Dummy on EBF baby

My LO will be 5 weeks tomorrow and is EBF. I was planning on waiting until 8 weeks to introduce bottles and dummies, but over the last few days he has been struggling to fall asleep unless he's on my breast (not feeding, just sucking), and makes me want to introduce a dummy to save my nipples! What are your experiences introducing dummies early on? Did it affect the latch at all? Did they take to it straight away?

I introduced dummies early on and it didn't affect breastfeeding at all. He took to it straight away and it does help him fall asleep if he's a bit unsettled at first

I waited with my eldest and he never took a dummy. With my 7 wk old we've done it from week 1 and it hasn't impacted milk supply at all - just given it to him when he's clearly just sucking for comfort and it's really helped both me and him get some good sleep.

I tried introducing it from week 2 and she hasn’t taken to it. I’ve tried different brands and she’s refused them too… Even more so now at week 7 where she can simply spit them out.

I introduced a dummy at 3 weeks and a bottle at 2 weeks and she’s continued to latch for breast feeding really well. I use mam bottles and dummies! X

I introduced dummy week 2 and bottle week 3, both mam and work well x

@Betty exactly the same for me! I’ve tried Mam, mam comfort (my son loved Mam but was formula fed) and bibs and she genuinely spits them out with disgust 🤣

I introduced a dummy when she was 1 week. I had to try a few different ones but she has taken well to bibs dummies. It hasn’t affected breastfeeding and if she’s hungry she definitely will let me know.

@Jane Bibs was my most recent purchase after seeing all the great reviews on amazon. But she spat it out almost immediately 🤣 I’ve given up

Thanks ladies, we did buy the MAM bottles and dummies so hopefully it goes well 🤞🏼
