Also when you start… please don’t stress if they don’t seem all that interested and just play with it…. Ours did this and I really almost got discouraged but stuck with it and he loves food now!

We really liked using the fresh fruit feeders! That was her first introduction to solids. And us pinching little pieces of food to hand feed to her. She didn’t quite have the hand eye coordination yet.
We didn’t really do purées or BLW until a little later.
We have an icandy michair as I liked how easy it is to clean! Fabric ones with BLW is a lot of cleaning however several people recommended the ikea highchair!
With my first he wasn't sitting up unaided, he was close but not quite, but sat really well in a highchair! As long as they have good head control and can keep their head up properly it should be fine! Be warned, they love playing with food as it's a whole new sensory world for them and 9/10 it ends up thrown about so have stain remover on hand if you have any fabrics near by😂
We bought the peg Perego Primo and honestly, I wish we hadn't. It is a pain in the butt to clean and our son isn't even small for his age and he's 10m and the tray is still too high. My parents bought an Ikea high chair with an aftermarket foot rest to make it more ergonomic for him and it is WAY better. The ease of cleaning is 👌🏼and the height of the tray is much better. The only drawbacks are that the tray is a bit tough to remove and that the harness is a 3pt harness (vs 5pt) and doesn't really go across the hips well.
Re: sitting up unassisted - my son wasn't fully independently sitting and he did just fine! You're good! I second the need to be patient. I think it was 2-3 months before he started semi-regularly actually eating the food. He also was much more interested in food when he wasn't in his high chair haha
My baby was 6 months, and he wasn’t able to sit up unassisted and we did baby led weaning! We just used an upseat to help him try and sit up okay! Our highchair was a bit big for him! So this was a good Segway for us!
