Getting baby back to sleep after night feed

Hi everyone, looking for some advice please. My 11 week old sleeps well between about 9ish and 1/2 am which I’m so grateful for, but struggles to settle after feeds. He’s breastfed and when he wakes we do nappy change then feed, I burp him and he usually falls asleep then I hold him upright for 20 mins, then transfer to his Moses basket. However 1 hour later he is waving his arms around, sometimes grunting and coughing and seems generally unsettled. The only way we’re getting any sleep past 2am is if he’s asleep on one of us or on his side in our bed but I know that’s not safe and would like him back in his cot. Does anyone have any advice/tips? Thank you!

Exactly the same here at 8 weeks but can't be of any help as we've not fixed it yet. Been told probably silent reflux but not been given any advice other than hold up after feeds. The legs and arms plus the grunting are next level! I did the same as you and held him upright for a chunk of the night last night but I'm also so knackered

It could be active sleep. My boy does a lot of grunting and moving, but he is actually asleep and it stops within 5 mins and he settles. Maybe wait a few mins before picking him up next time and see if he will calm himself down?

I have the same thing with my 8 weeks boy, and we are thinking that he is having reflux symptoms and this is why he is so restful and in a lot of discomfort .. also, I am struggling to have long naps during the day because he wakes up constantly and seems like the reflux makes him so uncomfortable.. so I tried everything, walking around the house upright for an hour, putting him in different positions etc.. and the only way to settle him down when he starts getting extremely frustrated is to give him the bubby … it is a vicious cycle.. we have an appointment on Monday with the Doctor..

@Liz @Irina reflux is so hard! My first grew out of it eventually, hope it passes soon for you. Holding upright and tilting the cot is the only advice we’ve been given too! @Yana thank you, will give that a try, I wake at the smallest noise so always rush to settle him!
